Breaking News - NEW BLOG!!

Out with the old, in with the new - I have a BRAND NEW BLOG!

www.StaceyWightBlog.ca

I felt it was time for a change so I had a brand new blog created so all of you have something more juicy and delicious to look at while you are at work with nothing to do (LOL).

I have been dying to officially launch this, but there have been little technical issues along the way until now. Everything is in complete order :)

As mentioned previously the number 8 signifies "new beginnings" so in celebration of the month and year 08.08, I am pleased to have a new blog and new logo!

I will never ever be posting here again, so please update your bookmark with StaceyWightBlog.ca.

See you over at my new blog!

Stacey

P.S. My super cute 12" iBook is still for sale.

Happy 9th Year Anniversary!

Happy 9th Year Anniversary to me.....of shooting weddings!

That is correct. On Saturday August 14, 1999 I photographed my first wedding!

Here is a flashback from the past. Meghan and Dave are celebrating their 9th Wedding Anniversary today!

I scanned this photo and the one below from the NEGATIVE (film). I photographed weddings on my Mamiya RB67 for 7 years (beautiful camera and lenses - the quality I got from the RB was superb). I just switched to 100% digital in 2007 (and it's been quite the learning process at that).

The classic bride in the foreground, groom in the background. I still do this!

And this is what NOT to do - bouquet on the bride's train. That's actually illegal in wedding photography.

So that is that. 9 years in the making. I can't believe how wedding photography (and albums!) have changed over the years. Technology is rapid.

I am tickled pink that my career is something that I LOVE to do!

Edit: I should point out these photos posted above look MUCH better in print than they do here on screen. Getting a good scan from prints and negatives isn't always easy!

08.08.08 :: Sneak Peak :: Wedding in Lion's Head, ON

Funny Joke:

Q: What did the "zero" say to the number 8?
A: Nice Belt!

LOL - hahahahahaha.

I had the privilege of photographing Katie and Brady's wedding in Lion's Head, Ontario on the big 08.08.08. The number 8 signifies "new beginnings" and also happens to be my favourite number!

Here is just a little sneak peak from their beautiful and amazing wedding day. The weather couldn't have been more fabulous up in the Northern Bruce Peninsula that day.

StaceyWight.mobi

I JUST launched StaceyWight.mobi (finally!!). If you don't have a mobile phone to view my new site, you may use this online emulator to view it here.

This project has been on my "To Do List" since January 2007 and I finally decided to take the 30 minutes and check that off my list today!

In case you are wondering what a ".mobi" site is, it is as it sounds - a website for mobile devices. Society is shifting dramatically with the way we communicate with each other and a mobile website is a MUST.

There are some features I would like to add to StaceyWight.mobi soon, but as always with most websites, they are a work in progress. Check it out!

Amazing Rainbow!

We had this AMAZING DOUBLE rainbow after our daily torrential down-pour early this evening. (It has rained every single day here since about April.....seriously, no kidding at all - EVERY single day). These were taken starting at about 7:45pm.

Isn't it splendid?

A complete arch! Isn't it amazing? You can still see the double part, but it is slowly fading. If I hadn't been wearing flip flops, I would have taken a hike to either end of the rainbow to see if the pot of gold really DOES exist! LOL.

The rainbow is disappearing here.

I just had to share this fantastic piece of creation with you. (Rainbows are God's promise to mankind that there will never again be a world-wide flood such as there was in the days of Noah - Genesis 9:14-17).

Trash-the-Dress Session :: Jenn + Yuron :: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana

Part 3/3 of Jenn and Yuron's destination wedding experience - their Trash-the-Dress Session!

Bright and early - it was a sunrise session.

Here are some highlights from the session.

Wedding Reception :: The Parrott Bar, Majestic Colonial Resort

The insanest wedding reception I have ever experienced!! It was wild to put it mildly.

The Parrott Bar at the Majestic Colonial was where Jenn & Yuron had all their dancing and other sorts. Here is a snippet from the evening:

These first 2 detail shots were at the restaurant "La Brasa" from the wedding dinner.

The Parrott Bar - it looks calm right now......

Jenn has great taste - pink!

Yuron and his 2 groomsmen were CRAZY!

This was the really funny part. Yuron went wild on the dancefloor to "Footloose" - gearing up for the big garter snag. All over the dance floor he went. Even the Dominican brother running the music got a kick out his performance :)

Photo on the left - hilarious!

And then the clothes came off and all 3 boys jumped into the pool!

Bouquet toss - loved the vibrant colours.

One word for the evening - Insanity.

Stay tuned for Jenn and Yuron's TTD session (we did at the crack of dawn the morning after all of this!)

Destination Wedding :: Jenn + Yuron :: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana D.R.

Back to posting wedding photos. I am determined to get caught up with blogging this month!

Who: Jenn and Yuron
What: Their Destination Wedding
When: January 26, 2008
Where: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

I photographed Jenn and Yuron's engagement session on one of the coldest days last November. It was almost unbearable (and I was wearing a fur coat!). We knew 2 months from then we'd be out of the cold and into our flip flops!

Here is just a snippet from their wedding day. We are currently working on designing Jenn and Yuron's 11.5x12 60side Magazine Style Coffee Table Book so I will be posting that when complete so you see can see their entire wedding day story from start to finish - wedding day, reception (which was crazy and W-I-L-D) and their trash-the-dress session.

I will be posting their reception photos next!

Loved the drool in this photo.

Mittens is this cat's name.

One of my personal favourites.

I posted this before but it is one of my other fav's.

I turned a few into "art" with cool textured backgrounds.
